1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, and using BiteLedger (the "App"), operated by Rohit, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use the App.

2. IMPORTANT: Tax & Financial Disclaimer

BiteLedger is a RECORD-KEEPING and ORGANIZATION TOOL ONLY.

3. License & Use

BiteLedger grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal and business financial record-keeping in compliance with these Terms. You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the App or its content without permission.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
• Use the App for unlawful purposes or in violation of any laws or regulations.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App's systems or services.
• Use the App to spam, harass, or threaten other users.

4. User Responsibility

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• Ensuring your use of the App complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Backing up your data regularly. BiteLedger is not responsible for data loss.
• Ensuring your device meets system requirements and is updated with the latest security patches.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use the App to:

• Store, upload, or transmit illegal content or evidence of illegal activity.
• Infringe on intellectual property rights of others.
• Transmit viruses, malware, or any code of a destructive nature.
• Harass, threaten, defame, or abuse other users.
• Engage in fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading activities.

6. Data & Privacy

Your use of the App is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the App, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy. For details, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

7. Third-Party Services & Limitations of Liability

BiteLedger integrates with third-party services such as:

• Firebase: Cloud storage, authentication, database
• Google Drive & Google Sign-In: File storage and authentication
• Dropbox: File storage and authentication
• Apple App Store: Payment and subscription processing

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. BiteLedger is NOT responsible for:

• Service outages, unavailability, or data loss from Firebase, Google, Apple, or Stripe
• Delays or failures in synchronization due to third-party service issues
• Changes to third-party APIs or service discontinuations
• Data retention or deletion decisions made by third-party providers

Your sole remedy for third-party service failures is to contact that service provider directly.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, code, design, and functionality in BiteLedger are the intellectual property of Rohit and are protected by copyright and other applicable laws. You have no rights to this content except as expressly granted by these Terms.

9. Warranty Disclaimer

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS-IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. BiteLedger does not warrant that:

• The App will be error-free or uninterrupted.
• The App will meet your specific needs or expectations.
• Any defects will be corrected.
• Your data is secure or will not be lost.
• Calculations or data organization will be accurate for tax purposes.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BITELEDGER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data, revenue, or profits.
• Business interruption.
• Tax penalties or audit liabilities.
• Personal injury or damage to property.
• Third-party service failures or data loss.

Your exclusive remedy is limited to the amount you paid for the App (if any).

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless BiteLedger and Rohit from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the App in violation of these Terms.
• Your infringement of intellectual property rights.
• Your violation of any laws or regulations (including tax laws).
• Your harassment or harm to other users.
• Your reliance on the App for tax or legal compliance without consulting professionals.

12. Account Termination

BiteLedger reserves the right to terminate or suspend your account without notice if you violate these Terms or engage in behavior harmful to the App or other users. Upon termination, your account data may be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

13. Subscription, Auto-Renewal & Cancellation

BiteLedger offers subscription options (monthly, annual, and lifetime) after a free trial period.

• Free Trial: Your free trial converts to a paid subscription after the trial expires unless you cancel before that date.
• Automatic Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual).
• How to Cancel: Cancel your subscription anytime through the Apple App Store settings (Settings > [Your Apple ID] > Subscriptions > BiteLedger > Cancel Subscription).
• Effective Date: Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period. No refunds are provided for unused portions of the subscription period.
• Refund Policy: Subscription refunds are subject to Apple App Store's standard refund policies.

14. Data Deletion & Retention

• Local Device Data: Deleted immediately when you delete the App or manually delete data from your device (not recoverable by BiteLedger).
• Cloud Data (Firebase): Deleted within 30 days of your written account deletion request.
• Backups: We strongly recommend you export and backup your critical financial data before requesting account deletion.
• Legal Retention: We may retain data longer if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

15. Changes to Terms

BiteLedger may update these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated to you via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of the App following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

16. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington.
